Robert Kunec (SK) - 1/1 Suicide Bomber

Robert Kunec builds his "1/1 Suicide Bomber" in form of two kits, which displays the cynic conception of death as a happy redemption. In such a way „a tinkered “conception of the world vacates the civil solidificationness with radicalness and implies despite all criticism a radical freedom beyond all borders. The kits at a size of 320 the x 305 x 50 cm each, executed in fiberglass/ polyester remind us of the Revell-plastic airplanes of our childhood. The technical-playful concept parodies the fears, which are bound to the duplication and possible application of such a kit. Professor Dr. Eugen Blume, Director of the “Hamburger Bahnhof”, Berlin describes Kunec’s sculptures as follows: " (…) After September 11 there has been an almost inflationary attempt in contemporary art to evaluate this event that almost got, via the mass media, an aesthetic coating by artistical analysis. Amongst these works Robert Kunec`s sculptures are of an outstanding self-sufficiency. The idea of its figure convinces in each regard. “
